An Interactive Voice Response Based Service for Delivering Healthcare to Patients from Doctors in Real Time

Narrative Description of Project: Sierra Leone has one of the poorest healthcare systems in the country. A major reason for this is the shortage of doctors that the country faces, along with the majority of the medical health facilities being located in the capital Freetown, which leaves with a majority of people in the country unable to get access to affordable and timely healthcare. To mitigate this crisis, we at iDT Labs are currently developing a proof of concept for an interactive voice response based service that allows patients to directly connect with doctors in real time and to get access to medical information.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff:

  1. Developed the prototypes of the service
  2. Designed and conducted focus group interviews and immersive studies with stakeholders in Freetown to understand the main bottlenecks that are present in the delivery of healthcare in Sierra Leone

Ran multiple design iteration sprints with the end users to improve the interface of the application
